RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach have also decided to hold its "home" matches in round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League in Budapest at the Puskás Aréna.
Both Bundesliga top clubs contacted the Hungarian Football Federation and the National Centres for Sport (operator of Puskás Aréna) and took part on technical site visits after UEFA recommended the facility to their attention based on the experience of accomplished UEFA events so far: the Puskás Aréna was the host of the Bayern Munich-Sevilla FC UEFA Super Cup and the home matches of Ferencváros against Juventus and Barcelona in Champions Leage group stage, furthermore several Hungarian national team clashes and the Hungarian National Cup final.
The RB Leipzig-Liverpool FC and Borussia Mönchengladbach-Manchester City FC matches will of course be held behind closed gates in compliance with the strict safety regulations of the Hungarian authorities and UEFA.
